It’s almost time for one of our best Total Rewards benefits of the year — Winter Break, which will take place from Wednesday, December 23, 2015 – Sunday, January 3, 2016. Please help the College continue with its energy savings program by “shutting down” over the break. So far, we’ve saved $4.5 million!

  • There are two opportunities to win: one for turning off all televisions in a building and a second for shutting down all computers (10 or more) in a lab.
  • The TVs and computers MUST remain off during the entire holiday break, Wednesday, December 23, 2015, through Sunday, January 3, 2016.
  • If you or your team would like to participate, email Patti Riva, operations manager, energy education, at priva@valenciacollege.edu by Monday, December 21, 2015, at 12 p.m. with your name, campus and building, and whether you are participating in the TV and/or computer competition. Please, no competitors within the same department.
  • If there are multiple areas with all TVs and computers off, a name will be drawn for each: TV competitors and computer lab competitors. It is possible for one person or team to win both competitions.

We’ve compiled a checklist of steps to help conserve energy into a printable document. Click on the button below for details.

Please note that the electricity is not shut off during holiday breaks, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems cycle on and off as needed.

Happy Holidays!
