Social and Behavioral Sciences Hosts Florida Amendments Forum

A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses

The department of Social and Behavioral Sciences hosted the Florida Amendments Forum on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, in collaboration with the League of Women Voters and the Peace and Justice Institute. Students, faculty and staff attended to hear more information and ask questions about the Florida constitutional amendment process, how it differs from the U.S. Constitutional process and the content of the 12 amendments that will appear on the ballot in November. The content of the amendments includes issues on property taxes, student tuition, greyhound racing and non-violent felon voting rights restoration.

The event was hosted by West Campus Political Science Professors Tyler Branz and Scott Crosby. Aleeza Shah, a graduate of the Seneff Honors College, also presented. Aleeza has been working on campus with a non-partisan organization to stress the importance of voting to students and to help them register.
