Sonia Casablanca Will Serve as Interim Dean in Summer 2020

A Message from Kathleen Plinske, President, Osceola, Lake Nona, and Poinciana Campuses

Professor of Business Sonia Casablanca has been selected to serve as interim dean of career and technical programs at the Osceola Campus for the summer 2020 semester. She will assume the responsibilities of the current dean, James McDonald, while he is on sabbatical leave for the summer. Sonia holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Puerto Rico, a master’s degree in management from Florida State University and an MBA from the University of Central Florida.

She recently completed her doctoral program in business administration at the University of Florida.

She has served as a full-time professor of business and business program chair at Valencia College’s Osceola Campus since 2015. During that time, Sonia has also served as a faculty advisor for two student organizations; the Association of Latino Professionals and the Entrepreneurship Club. Prior to coming to Valencia, she had more than 18 years of experience in the mortgage, real estate, and insurance industries.
