A Message from Terri Graham, Interim President, West and Downtown Campuses
Although we weren’t lucky enough to receive an invitation to this event, our students in our Wine Essentials and Beverage Essentials courses had an amazing opportunity to learn about storytelling with wine on Monday, March 28, 2022.
Madeline Triffon, a wine specialist who is known as the first female to become a master sommelier in the U.S. and the second in the world; Amanda Higgins, chief executive officer of Dream Big Darling and “Wine Enthusiast” Top 40 Under 40 Winemaker in the U.S.; and Melissa McAvoy, an advanced sommelier and owner of Swirlery Wine Shop in Orlando, hosted a discussion with the Dream Big Darling Organization about storytelling through wine.
“We had the opportunity to hear from each winemaker of the wines we tasted,” explained Danielle Otero, part-time faculty, hospitality and tourism. “They gave us their inspiration and life story, which entails giving us an element of storytelling when it comes to wine service. The entire concept is how can you do proper wine service while delivering a story.”
Thank you to Melissa McAvoy who donated the wine.
