Five Valencia College students were honored alongside 153 other high achieving students from across the Florida College System at the 2019 All-Florida Academic Team Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. Students Carla Coelho, Karla Del Moral, Katalina Galeano, Carla Reyes and Faith Sauber received awards.
The All-Florida Academic Team award recipients are nominated by their respective colleges based on academic achievement, leadership and service to the community. The competition is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK).
This year, the awards ceremony coincided with PTK Catalyst 2019, the honor society’s annual conference, and award recipients were offered complimentary admission to General Session 1 of the conference as part of their award.
E. Ann McGee, president emerita, Seminole State College of Florida, provided the opening remarks for the awards ceremony. Chancellor of the Florida College System Kathy Hebda also addressed the award recipients and remained on stage for the presentation of the award medallions that students will wear with their regalia at commencement.
