If you haven’t logged in to the Valencia EDGE since the holiday weekend, you may be pleasantly surprised to find an entirely new layout that makes it easy to find the tools you need for professional development, employment opportunities, recognition, recruitment and managing your performance. Over the next several weeks we’ll explore what the new site offers and how you can take advantage of the resources. Today, we’ll take a look at the My Learning channel.
Here you can explore all of the employee development opportunities offered at Valencia including in-person workshops and hundreds of online sessions that you can take at any time. And all of these opportunities are available to you as a Valencia employee for free. What a great benefit!
So, if you are spending your SPD (Staff and Program Development) or department funds on outside training vendors, check the Valencia EDGE first before paying for training. You may find just what you’re looking for, such as sessions on Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook or Adobe Acrobat, Captivate, InDesign and Reader — just to name a few.
As an added benefit, after you complete any in-person or online course in the Valencia EDGE, it appears automatically on your transcript, so you and your supervisor can reference it for your Check-In. In addition, if you have completed external training or attended a conference, you can add these to your transcript as well.
In the My Learning channel, you can view that transcript, as well as a calendar of all upcoming in-person employee development workshops, featured and suggested training and certifications and programs. You can also check out the Leadership Library, where you have access to more than 600 titles on topics such as strategic planning, diversity, management, leadership and communication. Then, you can reserve the book and you will receive it via interoffice mail.

To access the My Learning channel in the Valencia EDGE:
- Log in to Atlas.
- Click on the Employees tab.
- Click on the Access the EDGE graphic in the My Development Channel. A new window will open.
- My Learning will be the first button on the left.
