The Peace and Justice Initiative — Fall 2013 Review

Get the latest updates and accomplishments of the Peace and Justice Initiative (PJI) by reading the fall 2013 newsletter. pji-newsletter-270w

Highlights include the first “Peace Week” celebration in honor of the International Day of Peace, as well as the visit by Dr. Peggy McIntosh, founder of the National SEED Project, and the three-day residency of Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury, former senior special advisor to the United Nations General Assembly president and leading advocate for a global culture of peace.

This newsletter demonstrates the power of the collective — many hands coming together to form a community of peace and justice that both informs and moves us to action. Special recognition goes to Paul Chapman, professor of humanities; Edie Gaythwaite and Michele Lima, professors of speech, for their tremendous work to bring our featured speakers to the campuses and community this fall.

The Peace and Justice Initiative is a faculty, staff and student led initiative that aims to transform the culture at Valencia into one where peace and justice for all are valued, and conflict is viewed as an opportunity for growth and transformation.
