Total Rewards and Workforce Planning – Meet the Compensation and Workforce Planning Teams

comp-wkfc-plng-team-groveOver the last two weeks, you have been introduced to Mary Beth Clifton, director, Total Rewards/Workforce Planning, and to the benefits and employee wellness and support teams, all part of the new Total Rewards and Workforce Planning department that emerged as part of the human resources reorganization. In this final article, meet the members of the compensation and workforce planning units that make up the third part of the Total Rewards and Workforce Planning team:

COMPENSATION TEAM

Jeff Nardo, Manager, Compensation and Classification

jeff-nardo-270w“Everyone you come in contact with is a customer. I conduct myself with that in mind, as every encounter is an opportunity to provide excellent service,” says Jeff (Jeffrey) Nardo.

Jeff manages the proper classification of jobs, researches and recommends salary offers to candidates selected for employment and liaisons with other human resources staff members to support hiring initiatives. He is equipped to handle questions regarding pay ranges for positions, legal aspects of employment, help with position definitions and reviews, as well as general human resources queries.

Prior to joining Valencia in June 2014, he spent five years as director of human resources at Brynn Marr Hospital and North Florida Regional Medical Center and 15 years in career services at Coastal Carolina Community College. A 15-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he left the service with the rank of major.

Jeff has a Master of Science degree in management science from the University of Denver and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Sabrina Latchman, Coordinator, Total Rewards

sabrina-latchman-270w“In looking for a solution to any challenge, professional discussion sessions help to make the best decisions and covers all subjectives, objectives and objections,” says Sabrina Latchman. “And this reflects the teamwork of our human resources environment.

As coordinator, Total Rewards, Sabrina ensures that employees receive fair compensation through research and developing clear and concise job descriptions, while providing project support.

“I enjoy the feeling of appreciation from employees when project checklists are completed and the intrinsic value of satisfaction when progress is achieved.”

Sabrina joined Valencia in July 2014. She spent the prior 14 years as a human resources generalist in various industries including healthcare, information technology, financial services and entertainment.

Sabrina graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology-specializing in education, and a human resources certificate.

WORKFORCE PLANNING TEAM

Lisa Shrestha, Manager, Workforce Planning

lisa-shrestha-270w Lisa Shrestha predicts, prepares and delivers strategic solutions to support effective workforce planning and modeling in the effective management of College resources.

“It is a privilege to be able to contribute to Valencia College’s vision and mission of helping others grow personally and professionally, while working in a field that I am very passionate about, and I look forward to collaborating with others to make recommendations regarding workforce planning and organizational design.

Prior to coming to Valencia at the beginning of August 2014, she worked for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for nearly 20 years where she was responsible for human resources special projects that included job task analyses and job descriptions, compensation, career pathing, career counseling, test development, data collection and analysis and workforce/succession planning.

Lisa earned a Master of Science degree in industrial/organizational psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in business administration from the University of Central Florida. She has Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certifications.

In addition, since 2010 she has served as an officer for the Central Florida Compensation and Benefits Association (CFCBA), an organization that provides a means of furthering education development and the exchange of information and experience in the area of total rewards.
