With the demand for Central Florida nurses continuing to rise, Valencia plays an essential role in meeting our community’s healthcare needs, which is why each term’s Nurse Pinning Ceremony is such a huge success. It not only celebrates each individual student’s personal accomplishment, but also Valencia’s contribution to community and workforce needs.
On Wednesday, December 12, 2018, Valencia pinned 78 nursing students who completed the Nursing Associate in Science degree — 56 in the traditional track and 22 in the accelerated track — during a Pinning Ceremony held at Olympia High School.
Historically, nurse pinning ceremonies are a symbolic way of recognizing new graduates and welcoming them into the nursing profession. Upon receipt of their pins, graduates recite the Nightingale Pledge, named in honor of Florence Nightingale, which is a modified version of the Hippocratic Oath.
