Valencia Welcomes Jill Biden for Community College Discussion
ShareOn Thursday, June 28, Second Lady Jill Biden visited Valencia to engage in a discussion with college administrators, faculty, students and industry partners.
Her visit to Valencia was just one stop in a 700-mile, “Community College to Career” bus tour that is taking her across the nation to discover how community colleges partner with local industries.
Biden, a community college professor herself, hosted the first–ever, White House Summit on community colleges with President Obama in 2010, and was in attendance at the Aspen event last December when Valencia was name America’s top community college.
“I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that the [Obama] administration has focused the nation’s attention on community colleges,” Biden said. “You all here know how great community colleges are. We live it day by day. We see students. We see where they start, where they finish, what they go on to.”
