Valencia’s Continuing Education – A Resource for Supervisors

Valencia’s Continuing Education division (formerly Valencia Enterprises) offers many workshops and programs designed specifically for supervisors and managers that will help you learn new techniques for improving your performance and the performance of your teams. The courses outlined below may be especially beneficial as you plan for your development:
The Needs-Based Coaching Series – A four-session program designed to help supervisors and managers create the optimal environment for motivating employees. The program includes the following courses: Shaping a Motivational Workplace (Thursday, August 9), Giving Needs-Based Feedback (Thursday, August 30), Realizing Talent in Others (September 20), and Offering Rewards and Recognition (October 18). All program courses are offered at the Sand Lake Center.
Are Your SMART Goals Smart Enough? – In this one-day seminar, Glenn Hughes, a national expert on goal writing, will share his innovative tips for writing SMART objectives that will improve employee performance and help teams achieve their goals. This informative workshop will be held on Thursday, August 16, (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) at the Special Events Center on West Campus. Learn more about this workshop by clicking on the image below.
Certified Public Manager Program – This nationally recognized program is specifically designed for supervisors and managers who work in governmental agencies and organizations. In partnership with Florida State University, Valencia brings cutting edge practices and knowledge to today’s governmental leaders. Level one, of this seven-level program runs from October 16 to October 19 (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at the Criminal Justice Institute (CJI).
Stepping Up: A Road Map for New Supervisors – This workshop, specifically designed for those new to their supervisory role, arms leaders with the knowledge and skills they need to confront the challenges associated with getting their footing and getting results more quickly in their new leadership role. Making the critical turn from being a member of the team to leading the team is challenging. This workshop helps to set employees up for success from the start. This workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 11 (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at the Sand Lake Center.
