Waiting Room and Passcode Soon to Be Required for Zoom Meetings

Tuesday, September 15, 2020

Starting Sunday, September 27, 2020, Zoom will require that all meetings have a passcode or a waiting room enabled. Additionally, for meeting join information, Zoom is renaming “passwords” to “passcodes” to better align with its role of allowing people into a meeting.

By default, Valencia College’s “passcode” has been active when employees set up meetings; however, Zoom allowed you to disable this option and set up meetings without either the passcode or waiting room. As of Sunday, September 27, 2020, either the passcode or the waiting room will be required.

For pre-scheduled meetings, please note that you do not need to reschedule them due to this change. For any meeting that does not have a passcode or a waiting room enabled, Zoom will enable a waiting room for you.
