I am pleased to introduce Don Ball, the new superintendent of Plant Operations on West Campus. He is responsible for planning and directing the maintenance and custodial teams in all campus buildings, the installation, operation and maintenance of related systems and equipment, as well as leading the Plant Operations team.
Don is a professional with experience in aviation, automated production machinery, biomedical equipment repair and educational facilities maintenance, including construction and remodeling project planning and oversight. He is team oriented with a desire for the achievement of goals and customer satisfaction.
He was recently employed at Lake-Sumter State College as executive director of facilities for more than 14 years. In that role, he was responsible for a number of operational support service areas for the College’s three campuses. Don also served for more than 20 years in the Air Force with assignments in numerous locations around the world.
Don is happily married to his wife, Susan, and has two grown sons. His younger son is working successfully with a local company, and his older son is completing his master’s degree at John Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. Don’s family is the center of his life, and he also enjoys carpentry and playing some light basketball when he has a chance.
