Welcome Mona Liza Colon, Compliance Inspector

On Monday, October 27, 2014, Mona Liza Colon joined the safety, security and risk management team as the compliance inspector.
As compliance inspector, Mona Liza will conduct comprehensive inspections of all Valencia College facilities for conditions of maintenance safety, fire safety, safety to life and any other special inspections as required. She will assist in interpreting local, state and federal codes and regulations applicable to Valencia College.
Mona Liza comes to Valencia College from the Orange County Corrections Department with nine years of experience. There she served as a master correctional officer on the Fire, Safety, Sanitation and Security Inspection Team. She is also a statewide jail inspector with the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission.
Previously, Mona Liza conducted inspections of all jail facilities, ensuring the organization remained in compliance with Orange County policies, OSHA and applicable federal, state and local fire regulations.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her two daughters. A dedicated soccer mom, she enjoys watching her girls play in various soccer leagues and school teams throughout the year.
“I am excited to be joining the safety, security and risk management team at Valencia and hope to serve as a resource for all faculty, staff and students,” Mona Liza said.
Mona Liza holds an Associate in Science Degree in fire science technology from Seminole State College.
