Welcome West Campus Tenure-track Faculty

A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses

Welcome to our new tenure-track faculty on the West and Downtown Campuses.

Jerrid Kalakay, Professor, Business, West Campus
Jerrid is a founding professor in Valencia’s Bachelor of Applied Science in business and organizational leadership. He has also worked extensively on the creation of Valencia’s nationally recognized social entrepreneurship program, even serving as the founding coordinator of the program. Jerrid co-founded the leadership and organizational development practice named LeadUp Innovation based in Central Florida in 2013. In this capacity, he has worked to improve the processes, systems and structures within a variety of organizations to maximize their capital wealth and social value creation, respectively.

Jerrid received a doctorate and a master’s degree in leadership and change from Antioch University; his dissertation research focused on the incidents that social entrepreneurs identified as critical to leading their enterprises. He also earned a master’s degree in higher education administration from Florida State University, two bachelor’s degrees, business administration in management and marketing from the University of North Florida, and his associate degree from Valencia College.

In service to the community, Jerrid served on the boards of directors for the Global Peace Film Festival and The Collective and as a national trainer for Echoing Green’s Work on Purpose Curriculum. In 2016, he took his passion for creating positive change through entrepreneurship to the airwaves by becoming the host of “The Teaching Change” podcast listened to in more than 119 countries where he explores social entrepreneurship education and innovation.

Anne Ross, Professor, Digital Media, Downtown Campus
Originally from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania region, Anne has been a resident of Florida for nearly 15 years. She has a background in digital media, education, training and instructional design.

As an adjunct professor, Anne taught for Valencia for nearly 10 years in the Administrative Office Management Program. Now, she has taken on the role of full-time professor of digital media at the new Downtown Campus.

Anne has worked for employers such as Liberty Mutual, Seminole State College, Pittsburgh Technical College, and has worked as an independent contractor for Department of Defense projects.

Lynn Sims, Professor, Biology, West Campus
Lynn was born in Connecticut where her earliest memories and love for science took place. She has lived most of her life in Florida where she earned a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the University of Central Florida. It was during graduate school where she discovered her love for teaching.

Combining her love for science and teaching, she began her teaching career at Valencia’s Lake Nona Campus, the University of Central Florida and Seminole State College simultaneously during the 2013-1014 academic year. She has experience teaching all levels of biology, microbiology, biochemistry and chemistry. She has enjoyed teaching students at Valencia and is excited to begin a new chapter as full-time tenure-track faculty member on the West Campus.

For fun, she enjoys exercise, mountain biking, camping, boating, attending cars shows and racing.
