West Campus Arts and Humanities Raises Funds for Hurricane Relief Efforts

A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses

Kudos to the Arts and Humanities department for raising $560 toward hurricane relief efforts for Puerto Rico.

On Thursday, October 12, 2017, Humanities professor Joanna Nazario Grzechowiak led a student-initiated bake sale to raise funds. Most of the goods, including flagship Puerto Rican flag cupcakes, were homemade by the students.

The spirits were high among students tabling the sale and all the supporters who stopped by. Live guitar music added a nice frame to this picture of Valencia family uniting for the cause.

The bake sale alone raised more than $325, which was combined with the donations from the Humanities department to make a total of $560. The funds were turned over to Student Services for further processing, along with the other goods collected.
