West Campus Strategic Planning – Call for Participation on Work Teams

wc-strategic-planning-2016-groveA message from Falecia Williams, President, West Campus

Greetings Colleagues,

Happy Spring Semester! Thank you for the time devoted to campus planning prior to the winter break. Our Bold Innovative Global (B.I.G.) conversations were a huge success because of your engagement, expertise and enthusiasm. Your work thus far has rendered 12 strategic foci with corresponding goals. Five of the strategic foci — New Student Experience, Online LearningDirectConnect 2.0, Teaching for Learning in the 21st Century and Part-time Faculty Engagement — are the same ones currently being developed through our collegewide strategic planning process.

The next phase of our work involves convening expert-level work teams to concretize the work of each focal area into a plan. We need your help again. You are invited to join one of seven work teams: Gateway Course Success, College Preparedness, Post-traditional Students, Centers of Excellence, College is Possible, Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement. The work teams will refine the goals and objectives aligned to each strategic focus as well as offer guidance on new initiatives. Click here to learn about the goals for each work team.

To sign up for a work team, please contact Barbara Lopez, office systems manager, at blopez32@valenciacollege.edu or extension 1277 with the name of the work team you would like to join by Friday, January 22, 2016.

Planning at Valencia is a collaborative exercise, and your expertise is needed. Work teams will begin meeting in February, and a solid draft of our campus plan should be available close to spring break. Your feedback and ideas are critically important going forward and so I ask that you please be sure to sign up and join a team.
