A Message from Kathleen Plinske, President, Osceola, Lake Nona, and Poinciana Campuses

This week, you will meet Rachael Dailey-Mihalik, education ambassador, who is based at the Lake Nona Campus. Her program, Community Scholars Initiative, is doing a lot of online and social media work to support K-12 teachers and parents during the public schools’ shutdown. She notes that Valencia’s faculty and staff may also find these resources, including daily science enrichment activities and a weekly scientist livestream event, helpful as they teach their own children. Please see the “Daily Dose” and “Friday Q&A” series on Facebook here. The program is also on Instagram (@communityscholarsinitiative) and Twitter (@CSI_Scholars).

Resources are archived here on YouTube through our partner, Scientist in Every Florida School (a program through the University of Florida’s Thompson Earth Systems Institute. New content will be posted on social media through at least July. All resources and webinars are open to the public and soon content will also be featured on the Orlando Science Center partner resources page for learning at home.
