Winter Park Campus Celebrates Excellence Award Winners

A Message from Wendy Givoglu, Interim President, East and Winter Park Campuses

Winter Park Campus Student Development recognized and celebrated student achievements and employee contributions during the Winter Park Campus Excellence in Learning Awards Celebration. This year’s theme was “You are the author of your own story.”

The Excellence in Learning Awards Celebration video was released on the Valencia College’s Student Development YouTube page on Friday, April 30, 2021. It was made possible by the leadership and support of Winter Park Campus Interim Executive Dean John Niss and the campus’s outstanding faculty.

Collegewide Excellence in Academics

We are happy to announce that through our collaboration in the Collegewide Awards ceremony, two Winter Park Campus students were recognized for their efforts and earned recognition at the campus and collegewide level.

Excellence in Teaching Award

Each fall and spring term, the Winter Park Campus student body votes for the part-time faculty member who has demonstrated their passion and dedication for teaching and supporting the students, culminating in a recognition of these outstanding professors.

Although the Winter Park Campus was closed for classes this past year, there were some key staff who deserved the recognition for their service to our campus in keeping it safe, in shape and preparing it for reopening. A big thank you and shout out to the following:

The congratulatory video closed with the following quote from Sunni Prevatt, coordinator, student development. “Congratulations on your success and accomplishments thus far. Remember you’re the author and the hero of your own story. You may not have written the beginning, but you can continue the storyline or begin a new chapter anytime you choose.”
