In May, two Winter Park faculty members, Suzette Dohany (speech) and Jean Marie Führman (reading), participated in a faculty exchange at Koning Willem I College (KWIC) in the Netherlands. The goals of this exchange were to:
- Collaborate with faculty from KW1C and create three cross-cultural projects for students in the Honor’s Program for the Winter Park Campus (the Jeffersonian Track).
- Design a cross-cultural experience that will include the completion of three projects during a study abroad trip to KW1C in the spring of 2015.
At Winter Park, the focus of the Jeffersonian Track is on creating opportunities for students to become active, global citizens. During this project, Valencia Jeffersonian students will participate in cross-cultural experiences with students at KW1C. This will include Skyping sessions with KW1C students and a study abroad trip in the spring of 2015 to KW1C that will provide an opportunity to engage with people whose world views, histories, beliefs and aspirations may be very different from their own.
