Jeffersonian Track Students learn about PTK, Begin Work with Counterparts in the Netherlands

On Wednesday, September 11, student Jarrett Fletcher, vice president of leadership for the Phi Theta Kappa East Campus chapter, spoke to students in an Honors ENC 1101 class on the Winter Park Campus about being a member of the organization.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is an honors society founded in 1910, with chapters worldwide. Its mission focuses on community college students’ academic achievement, personal growth and development, leadership, service to the community and fellowship.

During that same class, students Skyped for the first time with their counterparts from Koning Willem I College in the Netherlands. These students are the first cohort of the Global Citizens Program, which is part of the Jeffersonian track within the Seneff Honors College at Winter Park Campus. The students are working on joint academic projects with their counterparts in the Netherlands through Skype conferencing and other social media.
