UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and Optum are taking action to ensure health plan members and patients affected by COVID-19 have the support and resources they need. UHC has a team of experts closely monitoring COVID-19. As with any public health issue, UHC is working with and following all guidance and protocols issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and state and local public health departments in supporting UHC members’ needs.
COVID-19 Testing and Treatment (New details as of Tuesday, August 11, 2020)
In coordination with the federal government’s guidance, Valencia’s UHC plans are covering COVID-19 diagnostic and antibody testing and test-related visits (office visits, urgent care center, emergency department, telehealth and telemedicine vendor) at 100% without member cost share. Through Thursday, October 22, 2020, medical expenses for treatment of COVID-19 are covered at 100% without member cost share for both inpatient and outpatient care. COVID-19 testing and treatment coverages include both in-network and out-of-network providers.
Virtual Visits (New details as of Tuesday, August 11, 2020)
UHC is encouraging health plan members to use their virtual visit capability, available through the UnitedHealthcare mobile app, to help answer any general questions or concerns about COVID-19. The virtual visit providers have developed guidelines for members who think they may have been infected by COVID-19.
In addition, virtual visits are a great option to access a doctor without leaving your home for non-emergency medical conditions like bronchitis, the flu, pink eye and an array of other ailments that can be diagnosed via webcam. Through Wednesday, September 30, 2020, virtual visits will be covered at 100% without member cost share for all of Valencia’s UHC plans. This change is not limited to COVID-19 and will only apply to UnitedHealthcare virtual visit providers (Teledoc, Amwell, and Doctor on Demand).
Medical Provider Telehealth Virtual Care (New details as of Tuesday, August 11, 2020)
Through Thursday, October 22, 2020, telehealth visits with your medical provider are covered under Valencia’s UHC plans. All eligible in-network and out-of-network medical providers who have the ability and want to connect with their patient through synchronous virtual care (live video-conferencing or audio-only) can do so. Through Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in-network telehealth visits for medical, outpatient and physical, speech and occupational therapies will be covered at 100% with no member cost share. Out-of-network non-COVID telehealth visits are still covered under the same member cost share of your UHC plan. Please refer to your specific plan out-of-network benefits by logging in to your account on myUHC.com or calling the member phone number on the back of your UHC medical ID card.
Behavioral Health Provider Telehealth Virtual Care (New details Tuesday, August 11, 2020)
Through Thursday, October 22, 2020, all eligible in- and out-of-network behavioral health care providers who have the ability and want to connect with their patient through live video-conferencing or audio-only, may do so to support the behavioral health (mental health and substance use disorder) needs of the individual member. Telehealth services, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, by in-network providers only will be covered at 100% with no member cost share through Wednesday, September 30, 2020. Physical office visits and out-of-network behavioral health telehealth visits will pay according to plan benefits. Please refer to your specific plan benefits for office and out-of-network visits by logging in to your account on myUHC.com or calling the member phone number on the back of your UHC medical ID card.
Optum Rx Mail Order Pharmacy
UHC’s OptumRx Mail Service Pharmacy is a convenient, cost saving option for home delivery of your prescriptions. You may pay less for a three-month supply of your medication and pharmacists are available 24/7 to answer your questions. Through your myUHC.com account, you can visit the Pharmacies and Prescriptions page to conveniently request your medication prescription from your provider. Optum will reach out to your doctor directly to approve the prescription. Other ordering options include contacting the member phone number on the back of your UHC medical ID card or requesting that your doctor send an electronic prescription to OptumRx Mail Service Pharmacy.
Optum Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
For full-time employees, Valencia College’s Optum Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to you, your dependents, and members of your household to help you cope with these types of life events. Call 866-248-4094 (24 hours a day, 365 days a year) and use the access code: Valencia. You may also log on to www.liveandworkwell.com and use the access code: Valencia. Optum EAP provides confidential, short-term counseling at no cost to the employee.
For part-time employees, Optum is offering a free emotional support helpline for all people impacted. This helpline will provide those affected access to specially trained mental health specialists. Optum’s public toll-free help line number, 866-342-6892, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for as long as necessary. This service is free of charge and open to anyone. Specially trained Optum mental health specialists help people manage their stress and anxiety so they can continue to address their everyday needs. Callers may also receive referrals to community resources to help them with specific concerns, including financial and legal matters.
