In lieu of our June Supervisor Summit, you’re invited to a special supervisor session on “Managing Employees’ Fear and Anxiety” surrounding our Roadmap for Reopening Phase 4 plans. There are two opportunities to attend.
Managing Employees’ Fear and Anxiety
Date: Friday, June 18, 2021
Time: 9 – 10 a.m.
Location: Zoom
Date: Thursday, June 24, 2021
Time: 1 – 2 p.m.
Location: Zoom
Fears and anxieties are made up of thoughts that are based upon either personal experiences or beliefs of the world today. Pretending that these thoughts and fears do not exist, or are not that bad, can make them worse. This session will focus on:
- Acknowledging and understanding fear;
- Examining our anxiety by addressing root thoughts and feelings;
- Discovering coping strategies and tools; and
- Discussing how to support employees’ return to work.
This session will be facilitated by Gregory Alch, a licensed psychologist and organization consultant from the Optum Employee Assistance (EAP) Program. Alch uses his psychological background to help people in the workplace to develop increased understanding and awareness of the attitudes and beliefs that drive behavior, and how to make the changes necessary for better personal and organizational communication and effectiveness.
No registration is needed for the supervisor sessions. Join us via the Zoom links above.
Additionally, in July, we will offer a workshop open to all employees, presented by our Optum EAP partners on “Preparing You and Your Family to Return to Work.” There will be two opportunities to attend.

There are many facets that are part of returning to a new work world. We will discuss the various parts including how we feel and what we need and what to be mindful of as we prepare to return. This class will encourage discussion and strategies to help us adjust in the coming months. Participants will:
- Discuss the range of emotions of returning to work;
- Review what to work on before going back and visualization;
- Learn about mitigating the risk of resurgence; and
- Discuss lessons learned.
You may register via the Valencia EDGE or join via the respective Zoom links listed above.
