A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses
Helping design our students’ futures takes on an entirely new meaning for our Architecture program, and I’m proud to report that Valencia faculty and staff have effectively designed educational blueprints for our Architecture students that foster great academic and professional feats.
This fall, for example, Architecture Program Chair Allen Watters visited with 20 Valencia alumni, including 17 University of Central Florida students and three University of Florida students, during a study abroad trip that introduced them to architectural marvels in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Greece and the Netherlands.
“While visiting the students, I got to spend a couple of days in studio with them as well as travel throughout Northern Italy with them to see works by famous renaissance and modernist architects,” Allen said. “Studying abroad, in a place that offers experiences outside of one’s normal day-to -day activities, is important for all of us who wish to grow as informed and empathetic citizens of the world. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the students’ trip when they return from the fall semester in January.”
