Celebrate National Study Abroad Day With These Events

In anticipation of National Study Abroad Day, which will be celebrated on Monday, February 22, 2021, the Study Abroad and Global Experiences office (SAGE) invites you to a weeklong celebration of study abroad and global experiences.

Engage with local guides and guest speakers from around the world. Participate in live walking tours and interactive conversations with area experts covering a wide variety of topics, ranging from food and culture to health, business, sustainability, eco-tourism and many others. Please encourage participants to build spirit and enthusiasm for these events by downloading these Zoom backgrounds here.

India Live Streaming Session

Dates: Monday, February 22, 2021

Join SAGE and the Study Abroad Association for a live streaming event from India in celebration of National Study Abroad Day. In this interactive session, participants will connect to a local guide to learn about the culture, religion and history of India. A Q&A session will follow.

Parisian Technology, Business and Culture

Date: Monday, February 22, 2021

Woyago, a Paris-based interactive tour company, will provide an engaging and entertaining session touring Paris virtually and discussing culture, language, business, and technology. This session will not be recorded, so please register ahead and connect via Zoom at the scheduled date/time. This session is brought to you by SAGE in conjunction with Heith Hennel, professor, information technology; and Jerry Hensel, professor, computer programming and analysis. You won’t want to miss it!

Costa Rica Live Streaming Session

Join the SAGE Office and Study Abroad Association as we bring you a live streaming event from Costa Rica. In this interactive session, participants will have a conversation about local culture, sustainability, and eco-tourism, followed by a traditional cooking class. In addition, information will be provided about the world-famous Blue Zone in Nicoya. A Q&A session will follow.

Conversation With the World Health Organization (WHO)

You are invited to a special conversation between Valencia College and the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland. Join WHO’s representatives as they give an overview of the organization and their response to global health issues and COVID-19. Included in the conversation will be details on WHO’s future focus. This session is brought to you by SAGE in conjunction with Biology Professor Melissa Schreiber and WorldStrides.

Spain Live Streaming Session

EMS Guest Speaker from Northern Health in Epping, Victoria, Australia

You are invited to a conversation between Valencia College and representatives from Northern Health in Victoria, Australia. Topics will focus on emergency response, ambulance services, fire services, hospital arrangements and COVID-19.
