Charles W. Davis, Jr. Named a McKnight Dissertation Fellow

A Message from Falecia Williams, President, West and Downtown Campuses

Congratulations to Part-time Professor of Math and Engineering Charles W. Davis, Jr. for his acceptance of the McKnight Dissertation Fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Designed to address the under-representation of African American and Hispanic faculty at colleges and universities throughout Florida, the highly competitive fellowship is awarded to Ph.D. students who are engaged in STEM research disciplines at select Florida universities. Candidates must also exhibit superior academic achievement, commitment to a career in teaching and research, and dedication to community service — all of which are key pillars of Charles’ character.

As a fellowship recipient, Charles, who is a Ph.D. candidate in industrial engineering at the University of Central Florida, will receive a stipend totaling $8,000 for the 2019-2020 academic year. He also received an all-expense-paid trip for events and experiences pertaining to the 2019 McKnight Summer Research and Writing Institute, and he will be awarded all-expense-paid McKnight doctoral conferences and workshops throughout the 2019-2020 academic year.

Join me in congratulating Charles on this achievement in the comments section below.
