ShareCongratulations to the five winners of the Faculty Association Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Counseling and Librarianship, announced at Academic Assembly on Thursday, August 27, 2015.
- Erich Heintzelman, librarian, East Campus
- Daniela Johnson, professor of mathematics, West Campus
- Ryan Kasha, professor of mathematics, West Campus
- Lauri Lott, adjunct professor of education, East Campus
- Richard Sansone, professor of Portuguese, West Campus
The purpose of the award is to recognize faculty members who demonstrate effective and innovative teaching methods and a continuing commitment to student success through student engagement both inside and outside the classroom. All faculty members, full-time and part-time were eligible and could be nominated by students, faculty and staff.
In total, 52 individuals were nominated, and of those nominations, 25 faculty members submitted the required portfolio with a narrative, along with other materials and artifacts from courses they have taught and/or samples of materials from other teaching and learning activities. Then a selection committee, comprised from different campuses and departments, reviewed the materials and selected the winners.
Each winner received a plaque and $1,000, made possibly by the Valencia Foundation.
