Valencia culinary students prepared a feast fit for royalty at its annual Grand Buffet, held Friday, December 11, 2015, at West Campus.
The students also presented the West Campus security office with the gift of an AED — an automated external defibrillator, which is a portable device used to treat sudden cardiac arrest, to be housed at Building 9. This project was entirely student initiated.
“Sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States,” said Art King, West Campus and District Office security manager. “For each minute defibrillation is delayed, the chance of survival is reduced approximately 10 percent, which makes an AED invaluable.”
The addition of the new AED brings the total to five AEDs that are now available at Valencia West Campus.
