Commencement Date Changes to May 8, 2016

Commencement will be held this year on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at the CFE Arena at the University of Central Florida. There will be two ceremonies, one at 10 a.m. and one at 2 p.m.
Attendance at one of the ceremonies is required for all administrators, tenured and tenure-track professors, counselors, librarians and non-tenure earning faculty working full-time assignments in Summer A or the Full Summer terms. Attendance is optional for annually appointed faculty who are working part time in the summer sessions and other professional staff.
On Friday, January 29, 2016, the 2016 commencement memo and survey link was emailed to all faculty and administrative/professional staff who are required to attend commencement.
Valencia College provides rental regalia at no cost to faculty and professional staff. You will be able to place your order in the commencement survey. Please be sure to complete the survey even if you do not plan to order rental regalia.

Karen – As chair of the Commencement Committee, I wanted to let you know that this was a challenging decision and not one that we made lightly. I am preparing a full explanation of the process and factors we considered which will be sent early next week. I also would like to share that the coinciding of Mother's Day weekend with Valencia's Commencement schedule will not occur again until 2021 at which time a different decision can be made. Thanks for letting us know your concern.
