Governance Redesign Town Hall Meetings Kicked Off at Osceola Campus
ShareOn Monday, November 4, the first shared governance town hall meeting was held at the Osceola campus. A group of faculty, staff and even one student heard Dr. Shugart describe a brief history of governance at the college.
After an engaging conversation about a draft model for collaborative governance based on a set of design principles that were outlined at the October meeting, participants were invited to share comments, concerns and questions with Dr. Shugart. The group provided thoughtful feedback that will be considered in the creation of the final design. Dr. Shugart shared the next steps to finalize the new shared governance process, including attaining approval of the model from the district board of trustees, and plans to launch the new process in August 2014.
This town hall meeting was the first in a series of gatherings that will take place on every campus through November and December to gather input and feedback on the redesign of the governance process. Please join us for an upcoming town hall to learn more and engage in the conversation. The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 11 at the West Campus from 2–4 p.m. in Building 6, Room 202.
