A Message from Ryan Kane, Assistant Vice President, Organizational Development and Inclusion
It’s my honor to welcome Deanne Abrams in her new role as the director of employee development.
Deanne began in her role on Monday, September 25, 2017, after transitioning from her former role as assistant director of student development on the East Campus. A long-time Valencia employee, Deanne has served Valencia since 2008 in a number of capacities in the Answer Center, Student Development and, now, within Organizational Development and Human Resources (ODHR). Throughout her tenure, she has also served the Association of Florida Colleges and was the 2016 commission chair when Valencia hosted the 49th annual conference last May.
As part of her new role, Deanne will lead the Employee Development team as it collaborates to create purposeful development opportunities for College employees. Deanne and her team also coordinate the College’s Check-In process, Supervisor Summits and recognition programs, and facilitate online and in-person workshops throughout the year.
Deanne brings years of experience at the College as well as experience in the area of development. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership and student personnel administration in higher education. She plans to commence her doctorate in organizational leadership in 2018.
As part of a reorganization within ODHR, Jenny Charriez, who previously served as the director of employee development, will now serve as admin manager, human resource information systems (HRIS) projects in ODHR. Jenny brings with her significant skills and contributions in the area of technology that she has been using to support and enhance the work of the ODHR team, always with our end users in mind.
