TED Talk Video: Steal Like An Artist: Austin Kleon at TEDxKC
As part of the TEDxKC presentation of TEDxChange, Austin Kleon — author of “Steal Like An Artist” and “Newspaper Blackout” — presented on the idea of “stealing” like an artist. In other words, he explored the idea that nothing is completely original, and we shouldn’t be afraid to build upon the ideas of others. Teachers are known to be creative in designing their lessons and instructional activities. However, over time, teachers tend to fall into the monotony of using the same activities and lessons.
If you are on the verge of experiencing a desire for change in your classroom, then you might want to consider embedding more creative and innovative teaching strategies into your curriculum. Although new ideas might have a few kinks or flaws, overcoming these shortcomings will likely motivate you to perfect or make adjustments to help meet the learning outcomes for your course, and enjoy the creative process along the way.
