Organization Matters – Continuing Education

Valencia Enterprises has changed its name to Valencia College Continuing Education. This change was made in an effort to better communicate services and offerings to individuals and organizations, and to make it easier to find the many, non-degree course offerings and programs. This article is the fifth in a series called “Organization Matters” in which we will share information about changes in campus and college organization and leadership.

Valencia’s Continuing Education division is directed by Joe Battista. Under Continuing Education, Lisa Eli leads the non-degree online continuing education program and international program, which includes the Center for Global Languages and the J Exchange Visitor program. Carolyn McMorran leads the non-degree professional training and open enrollment career advancement programs and courses.  Valencia College Continuing Education also partners with other college departments in economic and workforce development efforts.

Courses, certifications, workshops and seminars are offered year round in areas including technology, leadership development, languages and culture, advanced manufacturing, human resources and organizational development, government and emergency management, financial services/accounting and office administration. In addition to classroom and online courses, the division also offers on-site professional training for businesses such as Darden, Lockheed Martin, Siemens, Greater Orlando Aviation Authority and Marriott World Center, as well as provides services to Orange and Osceola counties.

Many continuing education courses and programs are available to Valencia College employees and approved for Staff and Program Development (SPD) funds. Select classroom courses are also included as part of the Valencia EDGE program. A complete list of courses can be found on the Continuing Education website, where you can also sign up to receive information on upcoming programs.
