Phase 3 Begins May 10; Important Information and Updates

Next week, on Monday, May 10, we will transition to Phase 3 operations, at the start of the summer term. Phase 3 operations include slightly more face-to-face classes than the spring term, as well as some on-campus student services. A limited number of faculty and staff will return to working on campus this summer to support student learning and support. As Phase 3 is an opt-in experience, all employees who will return to working on campus for summer have elected to do so.

Answer and Advising Centers
During Phase 3, the Answer Center and Advising Center will continue to support most students online. Students may visit the Virtual Answer Center here or the Virtual Advising Center here. In addition, the Answer Center and Advising Center will offer a limited number of in-person appointments only to select students or select prospective students. Student Affairs will email the individuals who qualify for an in-person visit — such as first-time students or those who applied but never enrolled — with details about how they can make an appointment.

Answer Center and Advising Center appointments for select students will be available on East Campus on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on West Campus on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Answer Center appointments will be available on the Osceola Campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Osceola Campus Advising Center will not offer in-person appointments during Phase 3.

Learning Support Study Areas
Learning Support will offer study spaces on-campus for students to use during the summer semester on East, Osceola, Poinciana and West Campuses, Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Appointments are recommended to use the spaces; however, walk-ins will be accepted if space is available, as students can book the study space when they arrive. Study area locations include:

  • East Campus – Building 4, Rooms 101 and 102
  • Osceola Campus – Building 3, Room 100
  • Poinciana Campus – Room 231
  • West Campus – Building 5, Room 155

Students may schedule an appointment here. When registering, students may choose either a computer desk or table to bring their own device.

The Campus Experience

During Phase 3, the following protocols will continue.

  • Daily Health Assessment: During Phase 3, all individuals, including employees, students and vendors, coming onsite will continue to complete the Daily Health Assessment using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Self-Checker for COVID-19 symptoms prior to arriving to campus, and, if appropriate after a self-assessment, stay home and contact a medical professional for evaluation. Know the symptoms of COVID-19. Stay home if you feel sick and seek medical attention if necessary.
  • Plan your day on campus: If you will be on campus for an extended period of time, remember to pack a lunch or make arrangements for meals, as there are limited food and vending available on the campuses.
  • Continue to wear a mask while on campus: To protect ourselves and each other, all employees, students and vendors on campus are required to wear face masks that cover the mouth and nose while indoors. Masks are required outdoors where physical distancing is not possible.
  • Maintain physical distance: Valencia is continuing to follow CDC guidelines including those for social distancing. When possible, please maintain physical distance of at least six feet and avoid congregating as much as possible.
  • Wash hands frequently: Remember to keep your hands clean by washing them regularly. Hand sanitizing stations have been placed on campus so you can keep hands clean when hand washing with soap and water is not convenient.
  • Illness reporting protocols are still in effect: Valencia is here to support you if you do not pass the self-assessment, become ill, test positive, come in close contact to someone who tests positive or must provide care for someone with COVID-19. Please follow our illness reporting protocols and contact Tanya Mahan, HR analyst and Valencia’s specially trained COVID-19 case manager at or 407-299-5000, extension 3047 to report illness.
