See Something, Say Something in Action

Left to right: Stacey Johnson, Danyael Boggs and Rob Pigman

A Message from Stacey Johnson, President, East and Winter Park Campuses

On Thursday, September 20, 2018, Danyael Boggs an East Campus student, was recognized by Security for his service to the campus. Danyael jumped into action when he followed the protocol of See Something, Say Something and contacted the East Campus Security Office with important information that he obtained from a friend.

Danyael informed Security that there was a possible active shooter on East Campus, and, despite the possible danger, Danyael did the right thing and took the time to notify someone.

As it turned out, the incident Danyael reported was actually a tabletop exercise for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, which was using East Campus as its focus. Assistant Director of Security Rob Pigman was extremely pleased and proud of the way Danyael handled the situation and honored him with a $250 scholarship.
