A Message from Carla McKnight, Assistant Vice President, Organizational Development

In October 2020, the Organizational Development and Human Resources team launched a fall term survey to collect information related to your experiences, challenges or successes during the fall term.

A total of 230 individuals completed the survey, which revealed the following:

  • 89% of respondents either somewhat agree or strongly agree that they feel supported by their immediate supervisor/manager in the efforts to adapt to organizational changes.
  • 93% of respondents either somewhat agree or strongly agree that they have access to the relevant health and wellness benefits at this time (e.g., employee assistance resources, healthcare access/benefits and updated company processes and procedures).
  • 95% of respondents either somewhat agree or strongly agree that they are aware of and understand updated Valencia College health and safety policies/protocols that are being put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Individuals were also asked how they were feeling about working in the past few months. On a scale of 1 (“terrible”) to 7 (“great”), 87% of respondents affirmed that they are a 4 (“okay”) or better.

Respondents also cited an interest in receiving additional information on managing stress, continued professional development and supporting teams through remote work.

The Organizational Development and Human Resources team will partner with each member of Senior Team to review the information specific to their division and determine how to best support their employees.
