A Message from John Slot, Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO)
As the Office of Information Technology (OIT) continues to evolve and enhance its service to the College, we’re investing in our team. As such, I wanted to inform you of some recent personnel changes that will better enable OIT to serve our collegiate community. So, please join me in welcoming John Knights, director, information security, to the team and congratulating Keith Hill, April McGuire, Lee White, Melvin Moodie and Jamie Rost and on their respective promotions.
John Knights, director, information security
John comes to Valencia with 20 years of varied experience in the technology field, nine of which are in higher education. Most recently, John was the information security officer (ISO) at Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) in Boston, where he spent the past four years developing a formal information security program. In addition to his role as ISO, John taught courses at WIT in Web security and IT management for the Department of Computer Science and Networking. John began his journey into the information security field here at Valencia as a student, later graduating with his bachelor’s degree in information systems technology from the University of Central Florida and with his master’s degree in information assurance from Northeastern University in Boston. Needless to say, John is excited to return to Valencia.
Keith Hill, interim director, campus technology services (East Campus)
Keith is a firm believer in the Golden Rule: the Bible’s principle that all people should treat one another as they would like to be treated. This principle has greatly influenced Keith’s approach to customer service and technical support throughout his 12-year career in the information technology field. This coupled with his passion for technology, helping people and a desire to make a difference in his community motivates Keith to do his very best in service to the Valencia family. In his free time, you can find Keith preaching and teaching in his congregation’s local territory and spending quality time with his family and friends.
April McGuire, director, enterprise application services
April manages the enterprise application and decision support teams. Examples of systems April’s team support include Banner, Continuity and SAS, all of which support various elements of the College’s operations.

Melvin Moodie, interim information technology manager, campus technology service partner (East Campus)
As the campus technology support manager, Melvin is responsible for the daily IT operations for the East and Winter Park Campuses along with the School of Public Safety. Some of his key responsibilities include incident response, personnel management and event support.
Before Valencia, he served four years on active duty in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, he earned his Bachelor of Science in information systems.
Jamie Rost, interim assistant vice president, application services

Additionally, Jamie has been teaching in higher education for more than 10 years.
