Valencia Launches New Orientation and YOU Are a Part of It!

nso-orientation-collage-groveOne of the learning outcomes for our newly redesigned New Student Orientation curriculum, as well as one of the goals of the New Student Experience (NSE), is to create opportunities that invite students to connect to Valencia’s faculty, staff and other students early in their college experience.

Through orientation and the NSE course, students will engage with the College as a place for learning and community, which happens when students feel welcome, comfortable and connected.

By giving directions in the parking lot, extending a friendly greeting to student tours as they pass or simply taking time to find the answer to a lost student’s question, you can influence student connection to the College. More importantly, it’s a way of providing a personal experience that will help them find their place here.

If you’d like to know more about all the changes in orientation, including Part 1, the new interactive online component, read the PATHWAYS Update article in The Grove. You can also check out our new hashtag, #ValenciaNow at the tagboard,, as well as our new landing page

The redesign was funded by PATHWAYS (Title III) West Campus.
