A message from Falecia Williams, President, West Campus
Help our new students learn how to engage in conversations by volunteering an hour of your time to participate in one of our New Student Experience GoBes — also known as GOing BEyond the classroom or GO and BE all that you can be.
The New Student experience classroom curriculum is supported by these GoBes. One of the workshops, called “Connections,” formerly named “Ben & Jerry’s,” teaches students how to engage in conversations in a meaningful way, and we need your help by joining us for an hour to mingle with our students. There is no preparation needed; you simply show up and allow yourself to be engaged in conversation. The students will be prepared with conversation starters so that your discussion with them should be fairly free-flowing.
Past volunteers have said that they really appreciated the opportunity to interact with students in a different way. And in their reflection papers, students invariably talk about the lasting impact of the personal connections that they make in these sessions.
Sessions will be held on:
We are offering many more sections of this event than we have in past semesters, so your participation is critical. We would love it if you could sign up for more than one session. To sign up, click the button below.
Although an advanced sign-up helps us for planning purposes, if you have time last minute or colleagues who would like to join you, please attend.
And, we’re looking for facilitators for all of our GoBes. If you’re interested or have any questions on GoBes, contact Christine Moran, coordinator, career development services, at firstname.lastname@example.org or extension 1332.
