Welcome Chanda Postell, the New Assistant Director of ODHR for the East Region

A Message from Stacey Johnson, President, East and Winter Park Campuses

Please join me in welcoming Chanda Postell, the new assistant director of Organizational Development and Human Resources (ODHR) for the East Campus ODHR Regional Solution Center. Chanda has served Valencia since 2016, when she joined the College as the assistant director of Title IX/Equal Opportunity and later of Equal Opportunity and Employee Relations. Throughout her career, she has served multiple institutions, including the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of South Carolina and the University of Central Florida — with many of her roles focused on supporting people. Her educational background, which includes a bachelor’s degree in women’s studies and a master of education in higher education and student affairs, is similarly founded in her passion for serving and uplifting others.

Her newest role at our ODHR Regional Solution Center, which officially commenced on Monday, April 29, 2019, will enable her to continue that focus. Calling on her strengths as a connector and deep familiarity with ODHR processes, Chanda looks forward to leveraging her experiences and strengths in this new capacity.

As the assistant director in the East Region, Chanda will lead efforts to support the region’s faculty and staff with ODHR services ranging from recruitment and hiring through retirement. Specifically, in her role, Chanda will develop partnerships with East and Winter Park Campus and School of Public Safety leaders to support strategic planning for employment needs, handle employee relations situations and promote professional development to support the region’s team and divisions. She’s also available to support all employees with queries about ODHR policies and processes, including but not limited to benefits questions and payroll queries, and serve as a consultant. For example, Chanda says she’s happy to meet with supervisors or employees who are working on the annual Check-In or consult with faculty and staff about difficult conversations they need to engage other employees in.

Currently, Chanda is focused on garnering a better understanding of the East Region and its many departments, as she looks forward to becoming a part of our community. She encourages anyone interested to stop by and visit with her at the East Campus ODHR Solution Center, located in Building 7 in Suite 173.

You can also contact the ODHR Regional Solution Center team by emailing HR4U@valenciacollege.edu or via the HR4U helpline at 407-299-5000, extension HR4U (4748).
